Hello, my name is Andrew Northrop - I’m a technician, film journalist and maker based in London.

I currently work as the Film and Media Technician at the Slade School of Fine Art, with a specialism in 16mm and Super 8 filmmaking.

As a journalist, my writings and interviews have appeared in MUBI Notebook, Senses of Cinema, BOMB Magazine, Hyperallergic, Sight & Sound, Little White Lies and more. I like writing about non-fiction filmmaking, film archives and analogue film practice.

Currently: In 2024 The MEMS Project and myself restored the historic Buchla 100 synthesizer at the Library of Congress and have been working on a film project about it. An overview of the repair can be read here at the Library of Congress Music Division blog. A recording of the Dec 5th event with Morton Subotnick can be viewed here.

If you would like to get in touch with me, I can be contacted at drewnorthrop [at] gmail [dot] com
